故宫文化一直以来都是中华文化的浓缩与精华，铜缸作为古代皇宫内的消防器材，遍布故宫的各处重要位置。即便是作为消防器材，古代皇家为了体现身份与地位，把这种消防器材制作的也堪称为艺术品。

铜缸在故宫中的消防地位以及极具观赏性的文化价值，在清代故宫中最为盛行，按史籍记载推测，故宫共有308口大缸，其中有16口顶级大缸。大缸采用黄铜铸造而成，表面鎏金处理。

故宫大缸在清代末年也惨遭不幸，故宫大缸在八国联军进北京时，由于体积大、重量重，士兵们搬不走，就用刺刀把缸体身上的鎏金全部刮走了，至今缸体身上还有深深的划痕。这也是留在中国人心里和中国历史文化中深深的划痕。

故宫大缸不仅经过了八国联军的清洗，日本对华发起的侵略战争中，日军侵占了北京城，铜缸对于日本人来讲已经没有太大价值，不过由于日本军备资源缺乏，于是把这些铜缸融化成铜水，全部做成了子弹以及炮弹，用于射杀中国人。

此款故宫狮首铜缸按照故宫铜缸造型一比一复刻而成，是一件完整的缩小版的复制品，再结合传统的彩绘技艺，让铜缸焕发出不一样的生机。此铜缸采用顶级黄铜铸造而成，采用古法失蜡铸造工艺，表面抛光之后纯手工着色彩绘，直径15cm，高度12cm，重量约2.3kg，历时5个月，终打造出这件故宫狮首铜缸。
