In addition to decorative functions, the main functions of these large cylinders are water storage and fire prevention, so they are also called "auspicious cylinders" and "taiping cylinders". According to the Daqing Huidian, there are 308 large cylinders in the palace. But for various reasons, there are only 231 people left in the vicissitudes of the world. These cylinders are divided into three types: iron, copper and gold and copper. Generally speaking, iron cylinders were cast in Ming Dynasty; copper cylinders were cast in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty; gold cylinders were cast in Qing Dynasty.
