民国初年，尘封已久的景云钟被送往西安亮宝楼展出，之后长期存放于此，供四方游人参观。抗战爆发后，为避免宝钟落入日寇之手，国民政府只能将其拆卸外运，埋于城郊乡下以避国难。新中国成立后，人民政府才又将景云钟迎回古城西安。遗憾的是，受技术条件限制，景云钟未能再立于钟楼之上，为古城人民报时。1953年，政府将景云钟移入西安碑林馆藏，并为其修建小亭存放。

Unfortunately, limited by technical conditions, Jingyun bell can no longer stand on the bell tower to report the time for the people of the ancient city. In 1953, the government moved Jingyun bell into Xi'an Beilin collection and built a pavilion for it.
